Scholarships
Zonta International believes that young women with a commitment to service and leadership are the key to improving the status of future generations of women. Through the Young Women in Public Affairs Award, Zonta encourages more young women to participate in public and political life by recognizing young women for their commitment to the volunteer sector, volunteer leadership achievements and dedication to the advancement of the status of women.
AWARD DESCRIPTION
The Young Women in Public Affairs Award honors young women in secondary level or pre-university schools, ages 16 to 19, who demonstrate a commitment to leadership in public policy, government and volunteer organizations. The program operates at the Zonta club, district and international levels. Zonta clubs provide awards for club recipients, and district and international awards are funded by the Zonta International Foundation. District recipients receive US$1,000, and five international recipients are selected from the district recipients to receive awards of US$3,000 each.
ELIGIBILITY
Women of any nationality, who are pre-university or pre-college students, who are 16-19 years old, and living or studying in the Austin and surrounding area at the time of application, and demonstrate evidence of:
• Active commitment to volunteerism
• Experience in local or student government
• Volunteer leadership achievements
• Knowledge of Zonta International and its programs
• Advocating in Zonta International's mission of advancing the status of women worldwide
APPLICATION PROCESS AND DEADLINE
Applications for the 2011 Young Women in Public Affairs Award must be received by the Zonta Club of Austin by February 14, 2011. All application materials must be received at the Zonta club by the printed deadline. Zonta club of Austin will select one application to send to the Zonta District Governors. A district evaluating committee reviews the applications and selects one applicant per district to submit to Zonta International Headquarters. The Zonta International YWPA Committee recommends five international recipients from the District applications to the Zonta International Board. After approval by the Zonta International Board, the Zonta International Foundation provides awards and certificates to the district and international recipients
AWARD AMOUNT
$1,000 from the Zonta Club of Austin. Possible to win more award funds if the application is awarded at the District and International level.

Young Women in Public Affairs Awards are made possible through generous contributions from Zontians, Zonta Clubs and friends of Zonta.
Central Texas Coalition Against Human Trafficking
The Central Texas Coalition Against Human Trafficking was formed in 2003, after Austin law enforcement worked their first human trafficking case and found a lack in collaboration between law enforcement and social service organizations.
The mission of the Central Texas Coalition Against Human Trafficking is to work collaboratively to increase public awareness and identification of human trafficking cases, and to provide identified victims of human trafficking with comprehensive social and medical services.
The CTCAHT will work through continuous multidisciplinary collaboration to coordinate services and benefits to victims of severe forms of human trafficking.
Marywood Children and Family Services
For 85 years, Marywood has adapted and expanded services to respond to the needs of the young women and children it serves.
The mission of Marywood is to provide shelter and support to children, while seeking to build nurturing families for a lifetime.
Marywood carries out its mission for children by:
Sheltering young, homeless mothers and their children Connecting pregnant and parenting women with resources Creating permanency through adoption Providing protection through foster homes
Hope Alliance - Williamson County Crisis Center
The Hope Alliance is a Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Program for Williamson County

Operation Blue Santa
Since 1972 Operation Blue Santa has delivered toys and food to thousands of families in need, helping the Austin community celebrate the magic of the holiday season.
